Am I a candidate for pharmacogenomic testing?
So glad you asked! If you have a history of adverse reactions or side effects to medications, or if you have difficulty finding an effective medication, you may be a candidate for pharmacogenomic testing.
We recommend patients undergo pharmacogenomic testing before starting any medications to prevent future issues. Testing while you are not on any medications can help save you time, money, and future complications with certain common medications. We dream of a day where all babies are tested at birth!

How is pharmacogenomic testing performed?
The test may be performed in the pharmacy or mailed to your home for those who prefer virtual appointments. It’s easy and painless! After a gentle swab on your lower gums, the test kit is sent to our CLIA-certified lab partners. Then you relax…PrescribeDNA will contact you when the results are ready!
What will the results show?
The results of your pharmacogenomic testing will show which gene variants you have. Genetic variations can affect the safety and effectiveness of prescription and over-the-counter drugs.

Not exactly. There are limitations to this test – although we are proud to be partnered with a lab offering among the most comprehensive panels available! While we can learn a ton from your results, many medications do not yet have data on genetic variation or aren’t impacted in a meaningful way. The good news is…your DNA does not change! As new evidence emerges and new medications are developed, YOU will be ahead of the curve with vital information that will serve your health…forever!
